Phantom Defense – 200 gr Specter

Kinetic Energy - 2209 ft lbs (12" barrel)
G1 BC - 0.415
This round is a purpose-built supersonic 8.6 Blackout cartridge engineered around the Barnes TAC-TX projectile — the same bonded copper-alloy platform underlying the 120 gr Specter in 300 AAC Blackout. Where the 120 gr and 110 gr tac tx established the standard for controlled expansion and weight retention in a compact supersonic package for 300 Blackout, the 200 gr .338 variant scales that architecture to 8.6 Blackout.
The 200-grain TAC-TX is a monolithic copper projectile with a polymer tip and scored nose cavity engineered for controlled expansion initiation across a broad velocity window. Monolithic construction eliminates the core-jacket interface entirely, ensuring near-100% weight retention and reliable four-petal expansion regardless of intervening barrier material. you can expect the 200 gr Tac TX to produce 2,230 FPS in 12" barrels, generating 2,209 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.
The cartridge is designed to function across service-pattern bolt rifles and properly configured gas-operated platforms, delivering repeatable feeding, extraction, and cycling without specialized tuning.
This projectile extends the TAC-TX lineage from 300 BLK into the 8.6 BLK cartridge with the same design philosophy: maximum retained mass, predictable terminal geometry, and expansion performance that holds across real-world engagement conditions. Coming soon — suited to hunting, defensive applications, and suppressed precision rifle systems.
