The 220 gr HPBT Match Subsonic was developed as a precision-focused alternative to conventional .300 Blackout range ammunition. The objective was straightforward: produce a subsonic load capable of maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency across a broad range of barrel lengths and twist rates without the cost associated with premium expanding projectiles.
The load is optimized primarily for 5.5"–12.5" barrels, with a nominal muzzle velocity of approximately 1,000 FPS. Longer barrels may produce supersonic velocities depending on barrel length and environmental conditions.
With subsonic rifle competition becoming increasingly common, this load occupies a deliberate position in the Phantom lineup. It provides a higher-performance option than our economical range and plinking ammunition while remaining substantially more cost-effective than our expanding and fracturing projectiles. The emphasis is on precision, consistency, and predictable external ballistic performance rather than terminal effect.
The 220 gr HPBT is a non-expanding match projectile and should not be treated as a terminal-performance load. We do not recommend it for hunting applications where reliable expansion or significant tissue disruption is required.
